The Queen Garnet plum is the spectacular result of a stone fruit breeding program in Queensland more than a decade ago. When the plums were fed to obese rats, there was a stunning turnaround in their health. And the news went around the world. Scientists have been studying the plum ever since and the latest results are incredible. So much so, there's a chance the plum could even star in a future documentary by Chris Hemsworth.
